What Is the Y LIFT^® Procedure?

How Does The Y LIFT^® Work?

The Y-shape of the face refers to the contour of each cheekbone that tapers into the chin and jawline, and downwards into the neck. As you age, your skull will elongate, and your body will begin producing less collagen protein in the dermis of the skin. These changes will cause the face to lose volume and the skin to sag.

The Y LIFT^® uses a hyaluronic acid filler to elevate the muscles and hold the sagging skin in place. Naturally produced in the body, the hyaluronic acid causes new collagen to form, maintains skin moisture, and also stimulates fiber blasts to create new and improved tissues.

As a result, the Y LIFT^® procedure replaces the volume that was lost. Also, unlike conventional fillers—which are often just inserted into the superficial dermis layer of the skin — the Y LIFT^® is inserted into an area between the muscle and bone, offering better structural support.

What You Can Expect during the Y LIFT^® Procedure

The entire Y LIFT^® procedure takes under 30 minutes. Prior to the procedure, lines will be drawn on your face with surgical markers to guide Dr. Williams, as well as betadine to sterilize your skin. A numbing agent will also be administered onto the face to prevent any pain or discomfort, though you may still feel some pressure during the procedure.

The Y LIFT^® is usually performed on one side of the face at a time. An open port is made into the skin, and Dr. Williams will insert a needle-like device into this port, leading deep under your skin and muscles. The hyaluronic acid within the device fills in this space and lifts up the skin.

Dr. Williams will then mold and sculpt the filler with his hands to help achieve the look you desire. The same process will then be done to the temple area and orbital rim to lift the brows, as well as the jawline to elevate the neck.

Results of the Y LIFT^®

You may experience mild swelling or bruising following the Y LIFT^® procedure; this typically only lasts a few days. Immediately following the procedure, you will be asked to follow a set of post-care instructions, such as:

• Sleeping on your back
• Keeping hands, water, and makeup away from your face
• Refraining from any heavy-lifting or exercise
• Applying antibiotic ointment to the injection sites the evening and morning after the procedure
• Coming in the next day for a follow-up massage

These instructions aside, most people are able to return to their normal routine the day of the procedure. Results of the Y LIFT^® can last about two to three years; however, results can vary.
